What is it about?/ Worum geht es?
The alcohol consumption among adolescents in Europe has clearly risen during the past years. Not only is the number of young people drinking alcohol growing but problematic drinking (e.g. drunkenness and binge drinking) is an issue of growing concern. Many factors are discussed as contributing to the increase of alcohol consumption among adolescents, for example individual characteristics as well as political and social structures in different countries in Europe. Knowledge about those factors will support the development of effective prevention strategies.
In den letzten Jahren ist der Alkoholkonsum unter Jugendlichen in Europa deutlich angestiegen. Aber nicht nur die Anzahl der jungen Konsumenten erhöht sich, sondern auch die Trinkgewohnheiten wie das so genannte Koma-saufen oder Flatrate-trinken. Viele Faktoren tragen zum erhöhten Alkoholkonsum bei, wie zum Beispiel individuelle Merkmale auf Seiten der Jugendlichen, aber auch politische und soziale Rahmenbedingungen innerhalb verschiedener Länder Europas. Die Untersuchung dieser Faktoren könnte entschieden zur Gestaltung effektiver Prävention beitragen.
What is the AAA-Prevent Project? / Was ist das AAA-Prevent Projekt?
AAA-Prevent aims to study effective strategies for the prevention of alcohol abuse among adolescents in twenty-five different European countries by:
- identifying and analysing risk factors which influence the initiation of alcohol use among adolescents in Europe (based on previous survey of self-reported delinquency and substance (ab)use among adolescents in 30 countries).
- Results of the study will result in recommendations of prevention policies for different European regions.
The project is funded by the European Commission. In Germany the program is conducted by the Freie Universität Berlin, in cooperation with the Universität Hildesheim.
Ziel des Projekts ist die Entwicklung effektiver Präventionsmaßnahmen gegen Alkoholmissbrauch bei Jugendlichen in 25 europäischen Ländern. Es werden Risikofaktoren, die den Alkoholkonsum begünstigen/beeinflussen untersucht und analysiert. Die Ergebnisse werden regionspezifisch zur Empfehlung der Präventionspolitik beitragen. Das Projekt wird von der Europäischen Kommission gefördert. In Deutschland wird das Projekt von der Freien Universität Berlin, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Hildesheim, durchgeführt.
