Jonas Gessner holds a higher diploma in educational science from the University of Education in Freiburg (Germany) with a specialization in social science and social work. His thesis focuses on juvenile violence among adolescents with a Turkish migration background. 2011 he successfully completed the European Master’s degree in Intercultural Education at Free University of Berlin (Germany) and wrote his master thesis on social and cultural diversity and the handling of prejudices, stereotyping and discrimination through Diversity Education. Prior to his further studies at FU Berlin, Jonas lived 5 years in Dublin (Ireland) and worked in different settings with people with an intellectual and/or physical disability. Furthermore he got involved with several organisations concerning ecological and development issues and volunteered for example as ICT trainer and team coordinator for the Irish charity Camara Education in Dublin and Lesotho. Jonas Gessner has been working as coordinator of the European Master in Childhood Studies and Children's Rights at Freie Universität Berlin from February 2012 until the end of April 2013. After being on parental leave he joined the coordination team again in March 2014. Jonas Gessner is fluent in English and German.
