The project includes the evaluation of a telephone health coaching service of the German health insurer Techniker Krankenkasse (TK health coach). Here, people suffering from cardiovascular diseases or diabetes are coached by telephone as part of a programme for secondary and tertiary prevention.
The aim of the coaching is to improve the way the insured deal with their illness by providing them with specific information about their illness, motivating them to change their health behaviour and supporting them in implementing the programme.
The aim of our evaluation is to assess the effectiveness of the programme from a health psychology perspective. The data are collected at 3 measurement points in a control group design. In addition to effects of the coaching on health behaviour, changes in quality of life and physical and psychological impairments caused by the illness are also considered.
