The Department of Education and Psychology has awarded the prize for best teaching every year since 2006. The selection is made by the education commission on the basis of the course evaluations collected each semester. Since 2007, the prize has been awarded for each subject, and since 2010 also for the best teaching by a lecturer.

Since 2014, the award for best teaching has been presented at a ceremony during faculty meeting day; due to the Corona pandemic, the award ceremony on 5 May 2022 was also held for the years 2020 and 2021.
