Radoslaw Martin Cichy has been awarded an Emmy Noether grant of the DFG (Ci 241/1-1) for a junior research group entitled 'Visual cognition'. The overall goal of the proposed research is to clarify the neural mechanisms of visual object recognition in humans using fMRI, MEG and multivariate analysis methods. The specific aims are to uncover how sensory representations are transformed into abstract concepts, to determine how bottom-up and top-down visual information are integrated, and to resolve the computational role of visual cortex in blind persons.
