Andrea Forster ist seit Mai 2021 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Projekt "Studienabbruch und Berufsaussichten. Experimentelle Studien zur Integration auf dem Arbeits- und Ausbildungsmarkt (ABBA-II)" am Lehrstuhl für Empirische Bildungs- und Hochschulforschung an der Freien Universität Berlin. Nach ihrem Studium der Sozialwissenschaften in München und Amsterdam (Niederlande), arbeitete sie von 2015 bis 2021 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Department für Soziologie der Universiteit van Amsterdam wo sie unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Herman van de Werfhorst an Forschungsprojekten zur länderübergreifenden Erforschung von Bildungsungleichheiten mitwirkte. Sie promovierte 2021 am Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) mit der Dissertation: "Navigating Educational Institutions: Mechanisms of Educational Inequality in Different Educational Systems".

Ihre Forschungsinteressen umfassen soziale Mobilität, Bildungsungleichheiten, den Übergang vom Bildungssystem in den Arbeitsmarkt, Bildungssysteme im Vergleich sowie quantitative Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung.
