The courses in the regular programme for primary teacher education covered by the research and teaching unit Mathematics Education and Society cover pedagogical content knowledge and skills for the instructional design, implementation and evaluation of learning processes in mathematics and provide access to selected research topics, approaches and findings in mathematics education. The research interests of the unit include cross-cultural studies of mathematics education, curriculum studies, social inequalities in mathematics education, sociology of mathematics (education), mathematics education and language, proto-mathematical activities.
