Myelin and iron patterns across the brain with quantitative MRI

With the advent of high field and ultra high field MRI, quantitative
MRI has become a powerful tool to probe the architecture of the human
brain in vivo. From the perspectives of function, development and
plasticity, these quantitative images provide a sharpened picture of
the brain organization at the mesoscopic scale. They allow also to shift
the focus to often disregarded regions of the brain which increasing
evolutionary evidence point to as significant contributors to human
behavior. I will give a quick overview of our recent efforts in this
emerging field and discuss a few directions of particular interest for
cognitive neuroscience.
