Welcome to the website of the working group for Empirical Educational and Higher Education Research.
Why does the Bologna Process enhance social inequality in higher education in Germany? Is a higher education dropout really a stigma that reduces subsequent employment prospects? Do migrant children benefit from migrant teachers? These are some of the research questions we are investigating in our research group.
We approach our research questions based on an empirical-analytical notion of science. We draw on action theories to understand social phenomena, and carry out quantitative-statistical analysis.
What drives us in our work is the endeavor to generate scientifically sound knowledge for the field of (higher) education, which may help to widen the basis for decision-making and to inform policy.
