Achievement in Mathematics


When math sucks …. How good you are at math also depends on your attitudes towards math?

Our research indeed shows that attitudes towards math play a crucial role in math performances, Students with positive attitudes towards math believe that math is important in later life and that important others will value their achievement. Such students do also obtain better grades. Of course, the question of what is hen and what is egg still is unanswered. Thus, we seek to continue this research with longitudinal and intervention studies. Thereby we aim to provide a profound knowledge base for teacher and curriculum based interventions to improve math performances of students.
