Now Available: Research Internship in “Digital Psychotherapy Research”

Dear Students,

At our Clinical Psychology Intervention Unit at Freie Universität Berlin, we develop and study digital interventions for various mental health disorders. We are currently seeking a research intern to join our “TONI Duo” project.

Using TONI Duo, we are investigating whether additional psychotherapy sessions (blended care) improve and stabilize the effectiveness of online self-help, and whether treatment is more successful when patients’ wishes and preferences are taken into account when selecting the treatment format.
You can find more information about the study here: https://www.ewi-psy.fu-berlin.de/psychologie/arbeitsbereiche/klinisch_psychologische_intervention/Aktuelle-Studien/TONI-Duo/index.html

As part of your research internship, you will be integrated into our regular workflows as a member of the team and will have the opportunity to actively contribute to our ongoing project. Your responsibilities will include, for example, assisting with recruitment (including creating recruitment materials and social media posts), collaborating on the design and technical implementation of the intervention (including backend work with TYPO3), and other research-related tasks.

The scope and duration of the internship can be arranged on an individual basis, but should ideally be at least 8 weeks.

You may be enrolled in either a bachelor’s or master’s program. The internship can be completed alongside your studies—that is, on a part-time basis—by arrangement. As part of a bachelor’s program, 120 or 240 hours can be credited as a research internship, and as part of a master’s program, 350 hours can be credited. We also offer a voluntary internship that runs parallel to your studies, lasting up to 3 months.

We are looking for someone with an interest in clinical psychology, a high degree of conscientiousness, creativity, and an affinity for technology.

If you are interested, please apply by sending a short cover letter, resume, and relevant documents (transcript of records, etc.) in a single file. Please also indicate your preferred start date and duration, and whether you would like to do a required or voluntary internship.

Our research group within the Clinical Psychology Intervention Research Group at Freie Universität Berlin focuses on transcultural clinical issues, diversity-sensitive topics, and general clinical questions. As part of a research internship, students have the opportunity to gain exposure to various areas of clinical psychology research and to actively participate in ongoing projects. Tasks include, among other things, assisting with experimental field research, helping with data preparation and study setup, anonymizing interviews on personality functions, and presenting project results in a creative manner. In addition, students can gain insights through team meetings, focus groups, and colloquia.

Our team consists of psychologists and psychotherapists—or psychotherapists in training—with backgrounds in behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy. Interns are integrated into regular workflows and work closely with the team, which provides practical insight into clinical psychology research and scientific project work.

The scope and duration of the internship can be arranged on an individual basis; however, the duration should ideally be at least 6 weeks. You may be enrolled in either a bachelor’s or master’s program in psychology. Upon agreement, the internship may also be completed concurrently with your studies, that is, on a part-time basis. If applicable, it may also be possible for you to write your thesis with us.

Research Internship in the Area of “Adherence to Digital Healthcare Services”

We offer the opportunity, as needed, to complete a required internship as part of a psychology degree program or a voluntary internship lasting up to three months in the “Clinical Psychological Interventions” research group.

 Dear Students,

In our research group at Freie Universität Berlin, we develop and study interventions for various mental health disorders. We are interested in how effective these interventions are and how they can be optimized. In our current PASST project, we are investigating adherence to an app-based intervention for depressive symptoms and the effectiveness of patients’ active participation in shaping their treatment. Within this framework, we regularly offer the opportunity to participate in a research internship. The research internship provides varied insights into different project processes and activities: from contributing to the design of the psychological intervention, to assisting with the conceptual and technical implementation of the intervention, to participating in team meetings, focus groups, and scientific colloquia.

We are a team of psychologists and psychotherapists. As part of your research internship, you will be integrated into our regular workflows as a member of the team and will work closely with us. During the internship, you’ll gain insight into clinical psychology research as well as the workflows of a scientist-practitioner.

The scope and duration of the internship can be arranged on an individual basis, though the duration should ideally be at least 8 weeks. You may be enrolled in either a bachelor’s or master’s program, and the internship can also be completed alongside your studies—that is, on a part-time basis—upon agreement. It may also be possible for you to write your thesis with us.

We are looking for someone with an interest in clinical psychology, a passion for developing ideas, and a willingness to learn how to perform technology-related tasks (e.g., using our online platform DIRECT).
