General research interests
I am interested in spatio-temporal dynamics of visual scene processing in the human brain. In my research, I use different neuroimaging techniques (EEG, fMRI) and data analysis methods (MVPA, RSA). I am co-supervised by Prof. Daniel Kaiser at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen.
I am funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) until September 2023.
Research projects
I am working on a project to investigate how the brain spatially integrates dynamic visual stimuli. During our daily visual experience, our eyes constantly receive complex information from the environment. This information is characterised by spatiotemporal regularities, with predictable distributions of visual features across the visual field and across time. To create our unitary experience of reality, the brain needs to integrate these inputs in an efficient way. In this study, we use EEG and fMRI techniques to investigate how dynamic visual stimuli (video clips) are integrated over different locations in the visual field in space and over time. In our analyses we combine EEG and fMRI using multivariate pattern analysis approaches, with which we can characterise how the exact flow of information in the brain over space and time depends on the congruence of contextual information.
