Extended Education in Thriving Communities: Toward a Sustainable Future

The third WERA-IRN Extended Education Conference at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik was held September 23 - 25, 2021 as an ONLINE CONFERENCE.

Dear colleagues,

We are more than happy to have invited you to our online conference during these tumultuous times which have been challenging, sad, and disquieting for many of us.

The conference was prepared by the Icelandic team who, along with us, extended its warm welcome to you all. They had the pleasure of virtually hosting many of you September 23 – 25, 2021.

The program included five outstanding international researchers as keynote speakers: Kolbrún Þ. Pálsdóttir and Ruth Jörgensdóttir Rauterberg (Iceland), Tomi Killakoski (Finland), Rukmini Banerji (India), and Jan Morrison (USA). Furthermore, various seminars were offered, and sufficient time was allotted to meet and greet fellow conference partners.

The conference times were  a bit unusual due to the time difference between our various countries and Island’s time. However, the Icelandic team chose the best solution possible to accommodate us all.

It was wonderful encountering many of you online, members, non-members, and newcomers, discussing and developing new ideas, and finding new pathways with you.

Kind regards,

Marianne Schüpbach and Gil Noam
